Novel, 205 pages, 2020, cover design by Margarita Doncheva
In Hades Sends His Regards Yanitsa Radeva has boldly pushed the central characters of the ancient myth about Oedipus towards the periphery, while putting at the centre of her narrative the peripheral characters – as well as others that she has invented or imagined. In the final account, we have an exceptional literary text, particularly interesting in its philosophical parallels and missives. On the one hand, it is a new rendition of an old myth; on the other – a rendition of our present times through the prism of an ancient myth. In 2020 the novel has been shortlisted for the Peroto national award for Modern Bulgarian Fiction, given by the National Book Centre of Bulgaria. It was also nominated for the Bulgarian Novel of the Year Award of the National Endowment Fund 13 Centuries Bulgaria (2021).
